  • All Organizing is Magic. Magie a magické praktiky v současném umění

    V práci se zabývám Magií jako alternativou k dominantním kapitalistickým, neoliberálním a patriarchálním strukturám v souvislosti se současným uměním. Navrhuji v práci tezi, že současné umění podlehlo stejné kapitalizaci a komodifikaci jako jiné oblasti života a Magii ve vlastním pojetí, jak ji v práci popisuji na základě několika současných umělkyň, vidím jako východisko z tohoto stavu. Magii rozebírám z filozofického hlediska a nadále dokazuji její přítomnost, avšak v nestereotypizovaném pojetí, v pracích současného umění.

    This diploma thesis is derived from the question: “How to successfully deliver a message of long-distance running being useful for personal growth?“ It is exploring long-distance running through the creative practice to widen the audiences for running by communicating alternative messages about what running is. In the western world, it is culturally constituted that running is something done with the purpose of either winning or fitness and this stereotype is the main antagonist in my quest which the current thesis is looking emancipation for. In the first part of the thesis, I conduct practice-based research through long-distance running and by analysis present the outcomes in the context of personal growth. The ideas include seeing long-distance running as a rite of passage, the possibility of „everything containing everything,“ the idea of „God“ as a representation of the unknown territory, and the development of „drunce,“ a practice that merges running and dancing. In the second part of the thesis, I analyze the art/long-distance running synthesis in practical works of other artists to see how works that carry messages linked to personal growth are communicated. The conclusion suggests the re-enchantment of long-distance running as the key idea which can be accomplished through creating „gaps“ in the familiar so that the viewer can insert their fantasies in it; exhaustion as the way of communicating an authentic message; and tweaking/distorting the concept of running through a different practice as possible solutions.
  • CHANGES IN PRINTED MATTER IN THE FORM OF PHOTOGRAPHY, BOOKS FROM TURKEY AFTER THE 90S.

    The purpose of this thesis is to describe in detail and to classify various tendencies such as the influence of technological advances and working methods on artistic production, the effects of movements in different branches of art mainly with time based design and / or photography from Germany after the 1960s. Characterization will consist of known artists during the Post-War era and short descriptions of their effects on certain types of photography varying from documentary to fine art practices. How certain influences shaped different approaches and posed as obstructions on contemporary image-making, created a genre of their own, effects of political and social change will also be subtopics. The main methods are composed of two parts. First, to contribute to an understanding of visual artists' reactions to the dynamics of change created by changes of their working and living conditions after and during German unification. Second, to analyse the tendencies of some of the artists related to mentioned conditions, that are seen as major influences in the art environment, in historical chronology.
  • Éra mačiatok: Estetika roztomilosti v súčasnom umení

    Roztomilosť pôsobí na poli estetických a emočných sfér. Roztomilosť ako afekt zahŕňa súbor vizuálnych a behaviorálnych vlastností, ktoré sú schopné vyvolať fyzickú alebo emocionálnu reakciu v tele subjektu. V prípade roztomilosti ako estetickej kategórie sa s touto reakciou manipuluje pre komerčné účely, ako umelecký prejav alebo pre vyjadrenie pocitov. V diplomovej práci sa budem zaoberať pojmom roztomilosti a jej využitím v súčasnom umení. Spočiatku budem skúmať genézu tohto pojmu z psychobiologického, sociologického a kulturologického hľadiska. Budem sa venovať pôvodu samotného výrazu anglického slova ''cute'' a japonského výrazu ''kawaii'' a ich vývoju.  Neskôr sa zameriam na aspekty roztomilosti v súčasnej spoločnosti, kde sa roztomilosť stala jedným zo silných marketingových nástrojov ale i nástrojov k predsazovaniu politických záujmov, čo uvediem na konrétnych prípadoch. Estetický aspekt pojmu roztomilosti potom budem skúmať v rámci súčasného umeleckého prejavu, pričom v tejto analýze zahrniem tak sociologické ako i lorenziánske (biologické) hľadisko. V práci budem sledovať aj motiváciu pracovať s roztomilosťou na poli hi-tech technológií. Roztomilosť možno v rámci jej estetiky diferencovať na viacero podkategórií (napr. ''creepy-cute'', ''tortutrer-cute'', ''sexy-cute'', ai.), ktoré načrtnem tak v teoretickej ako i v exemplárnej časti. V celku práce sa zároveň dostanem k jednotlivým  tvorcom a ich dielam, ktorí s roztomilosťou pracujú vo svojej tvorbe.

    In my thesis I want to explore the Slovenian contemporary photographic art focusing on the youngest artists who have recently graduated art schools and have started developing a new strain of fine art photography in Slovenian artistic space. Slovenia, not having a photography programme on any of it's art academies until recently, was always under influence of countries where Slovenian photography artists have studied, that being mainly Czech Republic and Serbia in the 90s and mainly UK, Germany, The Netherlands or France nowadays - the difference in the aesthetical and generally artistic expression is obvious. While most of the countries in Eastern Europe have seemingly lost the connection with the contemporary fine art scene, especially on the photographic field in the time of the post-digital art, Slovenia has kept it or rather gained it through the influence of its artists mainly studying abroad in the most developed western countries and not in Slovenia itself. On the other hand, the Slovenian photography scene has encountered an enormous problem as the artists studying abroad do not return to their motherland after finishing their studies - a trend that has gained on influence and popularity mainly in the last five years and is now almost becoming normality. The question therefore is if those artists can be counted as Slovenian or not at all, as example Aleksandra Vajd, who is one of the most influential Slovenian photography artists and at the same time one of the first ones who stayed in the country of her studies. In my bachelor thesis I would like to create an outline of the most contemporary Slovenian photographic arts with a selection of the most influential or the main artists working in the Slovenian art space, comparing them to the Slovenian artists working in foreign art spaces in the same time and researching and deciding if both groups can be discussed in the discourse of the Slovenian art or are they foreign to each other. In my work I plan to research artists, their works and their exhibitions, focusing on the aesthetical and conceptual aspects of their work, the differences and similarities between them and the comparison to their countries of studies and influences. I mainly plan to work with curatorial texts, exhibition catalogues and interviews with artists and my personal archive to research this topic.
  • Off-White a tvář feminismu

    V bakalářské práci “Off-White a tvář feminismu” zpracovávám téma vizuální prezentace módního domu Off-White na sociálních médiích a dopad který tato činnost má v kontextu vytváření celkové podoby feminismu, tedy obrazu vnímaného širokou veřejností. První část se soustředí na zakladatele značky, Virgila Abloha a klíčové momenty v jeho tvorbě v návaznosti na zvolené téma. Dále se pak zaměřuji na jednotlivé principy utvářející obraz ženy jako někoho, kdo již nadále není prostřednictvím fotografie prezentován jako objekt sexuální touhy ale jako rovnoprávná osoba nezátížená jakýmikoliv stereotypy utvářející vizuální kulturu módního průmyslu minulých let. V textu se snažím o jakousi analýzu fenoménu “high fashion”/“hypebeast fashion” a způsobu jakým tato forma vizuálního umění komunikuje s divákem. Závěrem se snažím o kritické vystižení lokálního prostředí v kontextu zvoleného tématu, v návaznosti na otázky zda je vůbec možné promlouvat k široké veřejnosti způsobem určeným výhradně úzkému okruhu určité sociální vrstvy.
  • Proměny životního prostředí ve vybraných českých fotografických projektech v letech 1990 až do současnosti

    Tato práce si klade za úkol představit a porovnat vybrané projekty mapující fotografické dění v oblasti proměn životního prostředí od začátku devadesátých let do současnosti. Tím jsou myšleny přístupy autorů, kteří interpretují krajinu také v jiném kontextu než estetický artefakt. Soubory vybrané pro tuto publikaci zastupují nejen výtvarnou stránku fotografie, ale svými sociologickými, ekologickými, sociálními, psychologickými a antropologickými přesahy umožňují alternativní přístupy k interpretaci.

    Cílem bakalářské práce je představit současnou taneční fotografii a českou street dance kulturu. Jako tanečník a fotograf se delší dobu zajímám o schopnost fotografie reprodukovat tanec jakožto umělecký projev a jakožto tělesný, emocionální a v daném situačním kontextu hluboce ukotvený prožitek. Práce bude vycházet z Benjaminova konceptu auratičnosti, jehož prostřednictvím budu zvažovat schopnost fotografie reprodukovat tanec, a to z pohledu tří přímých účastníku taneční události: diváka, který tanec pozoruje; fotografa, který taneční scénu fotografuje; a samotného tanečníka, který tanec a pohyb zakouší nejintenzivněji. Práce bude vycházet ze zúčastněného pozorování české street dance scény, a kromě výše uvedeného přinese přehled české i světové taneční fotografie s důrazem na street dance.

    V této práci se zaměřuji na téma chybění v současném českém umění. Skrze příklady uměleckých děl, autorů a projektů se pokouším popsat situaci na tuzemské umělecké scéně a její východiska. Skrze umělecko–historický kontext dohledávám důvody pro stálou aktualizaci tématu absence a popisuji strategie, jak lze v uměleckém díle s prázdnem pracovat.

    Photgraphical behaviour and technology Was photography an old dream? Would the caveman that drew the bulls, use a camera, or a brush if he was given a choice and a sudden understanding of their functions without affecting his destined hunt, or the story he was to tell. That depends on the story or the hunt. Extended, what matters is not what people photograph, but that they photograph. Photography is both a human behaviour and a technology. Its development and how it changes our collective cognition, will be determined by how technology will advance; and how people use it currently, what the demand in technology was, is and will be.
  • The Role of Humour in Bosnian Contemporary Art Practices

    Humour is often considered a means of self preservation. What is the position of humour in contemporary Bosnian art? The aim of this thesis is to show different approaches to humour, and how they can be used as an artistic tool to combat some of the ongoing problematics of the post- conflict society of Bosnia (Bosnia and Herzegovina). Humour has been a big part of Bosnian culture throughout its complicated and violent past, and continues to be a coping mechanism as well as a cultural strategy that helps address the problems of politics, ethnicity and identity and daily life. I will examine different artworks from Bosnian artists that deal with such social problematics and use humour in their work both explicitly and implicitly. From local to global, through the example of Bosnia, I will try to emphasise certain aspects, and their potential benefits, of the specificity of humour in visual contemporary artworks.
