| Abstract | Tato práce je zaměřena na osobnost bubeníka, perkusionisty a skladatele Paula Motiana. Paul Motian je kritikou stále častěji označován za jednoho z nejlepších jazzových bubeníků v celé historii jazzu. Cílem práce je zmapovat Motianův umělecký život, schopnost charakterizovat několik rozdílných etap jeho hudební kariéry a pochopení jeho hudebního myšlení. Práce je doplněna o transkripce z různých období a analýzy jeho vybraných nahrávek. |
| Translation of abstract | This thesis focuses on the personality of drummer, percusionist and composer Paul Motian. Paul Motian is increasingly called as one of the best drummers in all jazz history. The goal of the thesis is to depict his artistic life, ability for charakterisation of some different periods of his music career and understanding his musical thinking. The thesis also contains a transcriptions from several periods and an analysis and comparison of selected recordings. |
