| Abstract | Práce se věnuje otázce genderové nerovnosti v jazzové hudbě. Zpracovává období dvacátých až sedmdesátých let 20. století ve Spojených státech amerických, kde jazzová hudba vznikla. Vymezené období je ohraničeno rokem 1920, kdy byly ženy ústavně zrovnoprávněny, a tzv. druhou vlnou feministického hnutí v sedmdesátých letech. Daná problematika je nahlížena z historického i sociálního hlediska, vedle otázky genderu a diskriminace žen v hudbě se práce zabývá i problematikou rasovou. Cílem práce je poukázat na význam jazzových instrumentalistek pro dějiny jazzové hudby. Práce obsahuje výkladové pasáže a rovněž portréty vybraných instrumentalistek. Důležitou kapitolou je také fenomén dámských orchestrů v období dvacátých až čtyřicátých let. |
| Translation of abstract | The thesis deals with the question of gender inequality in jazz music. It follows what happened in the USA, where jazz was created, from the 1920s to the 1970s – in other words from the constitutional emancipation of 1920 to the so-called second wave of feminism in the 1970s. The subject is examined from a historical and social point of view, dealing apart from the questions of gender and discrimination of women in music, also with the problems of race. The aim of the thesis is to showcase the importance of female jazz players for the history of jazz music. In addition to historical exploration, the thesis also features portraits of select female jazz players. An important chapter discusses the phenomenon of female jazz bands in the 1920s to the 1940s. |
