| Abstract | Předkládaná disertační práce se zabývá fenoménem tanečních, neboli kurzů tance a společenské výchovy pro mládež, v Čechách od 19. století do současnosti. Na taneční kurzy jsem pohlížela optikou sociologie tance s cílem odhalit, jaký význam měly a mají taneční kurzy v české společnosti, a jak se na jejich podobě odrážely společenské změny. Taneční naplňují svou podstatou představu o sociální instituci, pokusila jsem se nastínit, jaké sociální funkce ve společnosti tato instituce plnila či plní. Identifikovala jsem funkci tělovýchovnou, výchovnou, socializační, zábavnou, seznamovací apod. Při sledování současné podoby tanečních jsem vycházela z konceptu tradice a modernity se snahou definovat prvky, jež se v tanečních uchovávají a kde naopak dochází k aktualizaci. V disertační práci jsem se zároveň zabývala i metodikou výuky společenských tanců. Pro uchopení fenoménu tanečních jsem využila kombinace několika rozdílných přístupů. Při studiu současné podoby jsem vycházela především z etnografického přístupu, terénního výzkumu spočívajícího v pozorování ve vybraných tanečních kurzech. Ze sociologie jsem využila metodu kvalitativních polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s účastníky tanečních kurzů a s tanečními mistry a majiteli tanečních škol. Při zmapování podoby a vývoje kurzů v minulosti jsem pracovala s archivními prameny, dobovými periodiky apod. Z geografického hlediska jsem se zaměřila pouze na taneční kurzy v Praze a na Jičínsku. |
| Translation of abstract | The here-presented PhD thesis deals with the phenomenon of dancing lessons, or dance and social education courses for the youth, since the 19th century up to these days. I have viewed dancing lessons through the lens of dance sociology with the aim to define the importance of dance courses in the Czech society and the way they have been shaped by various social changes. In essence, dancing lessons meet the criteria of a social institution, therefore I tried to outline the social functions they have been fulfilling. I have identified the following functions - physical training, education, socialization, entertaining, making acquaintances, and others. In my observation of the present form of Czech dancing lessons, I drew on the concept of tradition and modernity and, by extension, of trading and modernisation, aiming at defining those features that remain unchanged and those that have been updated. In my thesis I also cover methods of instruction of ballroom dancing. To grasp the phenomenon of dancing lessons, I have made use of several different approaches. For studying the present form of the lessons, I used ethnographic approach, i.e. field research based on observation in selected dance courses. As for sociology methods, I opted for semi-structured qualitative interviews targeted at course participants, dance masters and dance school owners. Mapping the past form and evolution of the lessons, I worked with archival resources, period newspapers etc. From the geographical point of view, I focused solely on dancing lessons in Prague and the Jičín region. |
