| Abstract | Tato diplomová práce zkoumá užití formálních, dramaturgických a scenáristických postupů ve dvou filmech Clinta Eastwooda Million Dollar Baby a Americký sniper. Rozborem prvního filmu jsme si ukázali, že způsob užití těchto postupů zde ze strany tvůrců vede k výrazně zkreslenému podání tématu, kterému se film věnuje (eutanazie) a ve výsledku se vůči němu jeví jako značně irelevantní. V případě druhého filmu jsme si pak ukázali, že film, ačkoliv chce být výpovědí a reflexí skutečných událostí (invaze a válka v Iráku), sám sebe z této možnosti diskvalifikuje především tím, že záměrně přehlíží zásadní a obecně známá fakta a jinými použitými postupy se navíc až nebezpečně blíží k hranici mezi filmem a propagandou. Podrobný rozbor některých postupů a s nimi související teze, principy a názory, které se v práci vyskytují, se dají do jisté míry i zobecnit a aplikovat na jiné filmy nebo kinematografii jako takovou. |
| Translation of abstract | This diploma thesis analyses two films by Clint Eastwood Million Dollar Baby and American Sniper. Its focus is aimed at the formal storytelling aspects, structure of the storyline and plot devices in the screenplays. The first film is an example of misusing these plot devices; the theme being euthanasia remains irrelevant from the viewers perspective although it was meant to resonate strongly at first. Analysis of the second film shows us the discrepancy of what the film "wanted" to be and the actual message it implicitly presents to the audience. Instead of being an objective reflection of the real events (in this case the war in Iraq) it is on purpose misleading in presenting of commonly known facts and hence it becomes propaganda. The analysis of the storytelling devices in this thesis can be also applied on different films and cinema in general. |
