  • Directing for Devised Theatre

    In this thesis I will reflect on my creative journey of being a director for groups working with Devised Theatre. From the first attempts at creating a play and the awareness of the satisfaction I feel during the creation process, to the years at ‘TeArt’ when I learned the hard way what it means to be a director in a group of equals; On my studies in two schools, DAMU and RESAD, and what I learned there improving my skills, to the latest project in which I believe I put all the knowledge I acquired into practice. A reflection that juxtaposes theories on Devised Theatre and Collaborative Creation with my own personal experiences.

    Redefining the role of the teacher in a community without exposure to arts on a daily basis, by using theatre workshops founded on the psychosomatic approach, permitted the participants to recognize and explore their personal creative resources, enriching their creativity and awareness of their physicality and responsibility in creating a safe and fruitful environment for teaching. This dissertation analyzed an international experiment that put to test the training of a six-member team from the Department of Authorial Creativity and Pedagogy, and offers a case of the current applicability of the psychosomatic approach.

    Ve své diplomové práci se zabývám fenoménem komorního larpu a skrze něj se dostávám k reflektování vlastního studia na Katedře autorské tvorby a pedagogiky [KATaP]. K psaní jsem nejprve přistupovala s předpokladem, že live action role playing (larp) vychází z podobných premis a motivací jako základní disciplíny katedry. Čím podrobněji jsem ale tuto hru zkoumala, musela jsem si původní hypotézu o podobnosti poopravit. Proces, který zaznamenávám ve své práci, má nakonec opačnou tendenci. Nepopisuji larp s ohledem na zkušenost z KATaP, ale zkušenost z něj mě vede k reflexi a zkoumání pětiletého studia. Postupně se tedy předmětem mého bádání stává dialogické jednání, autorství, hra. Nahlížím také možnosti autentického zážitku a snažím se odpovědět na otázku, k čemu pravdivost ve vlastní tvorbě i v přístupu sama k sobě vlastně je. Z velké části jde o subjektivní pohled a nabídku vlastních zážitků a zkušeností jak na půdě školy, tak mimo ni při praktikování larpu.
